While there are plenty of warnings out there about living in glass houses, there is nothing out there that says you can’t enjoy a little glass in your décor via a glass door or two. Here at G&S Contracting, Inc., we have some ideas on how you can use glass doors in your home décor and would love to tell you a little bit about the successful ways that we have seen them implemented in the many homes we have worked in over the years.
Glass doors are typically used as a visually-lighter version of an exterior door. Instead of focusing on an all-wood or steel door, glass doors are usually the center of a framed door of another material. This glass can be clear, opaque, or etched. Glass doors for the exterior are often able to let in more light while also providing a reasonable amount of privacy. If you aren’t happy with a door that anyone can have, glass doors are a way to make your entrance stand out.
On the interior, there are places that you can use glass doors successfully as well. Usually opaque glass doors are used on the interiors, but it really depends upon personal preference. Areas like laundry rooms, offices, studios, closets, and a pantry are all great ideas for glass doors on the interior of your home.
